Job Description
The Collections Specialist works in conjunction with the Carriage Cash Services team to ensure customer satisfaction and increase collections for all businesses in order to support the growth of the business and Carriage’s overall mission.
Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Make outbound Collection calls daily on past due Cemetery Pre-Need & At-Need Accounts
- Record information about communication with customer and status of collection efforts
- Handle inbound customer calls relating to Cemetery Accounts and receive payments by phone for delinquent customers
- Confer with customers by telephone to determine reasons for overdue payments and to review contract as applicable to determine necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment
- Research past due accounts via collections tools
- Review Delinquent accounts to make field recommendations
- Resolve questions and or complaints from the field locations
- Perform various administrative functions for assigned accounts, such as recording address changes and purging the record of deceased customers
- Utilize tools to trace delinquent customers to new addresses.
- Flexible in working an extended schedule as needed
- Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
- Assist or take lead on special projects as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate to clients in Spanish
- Associates and or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2 – 3 years (minimum) of customer service and heavy collections experience
- Self-starter and ability to learn a task with minimal instructions
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) required
· Must have the ability to effectively manage change, accomplish business objectives and departmental standards.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, written and telecommunication skills
- Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities and contribute to building a positive team spirit in alignment with Carriage’s high performance culture
- Ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and exercise good judgement
- Bilingual candidate preferred

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $17.00 – $18.50 per hour
