Job Description

The Payroll Manager oversees the implementation of Human Resources programs through the HR staff, in addition to monitoring administration of established standards and procedures, to support the growth of the business and Carriage’s overall mission.
The “Who”
∙ Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field required;
∙ 5+ years’ experience of multi-state/multi-work site payroll processing required;
∙ CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) Certification preferred;
∙ Ceridian Dayforce experience and knowledge preferred;
∙ Knowledge of multi-state taxing entities;
∙ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint);
∙ Internal customer/stakeholder focus;
∙ High level of attention to detail; and
∙ Successfully manage multiple projects and competing prioritizes while exercising sound judgment.
The “What”
∙ Manage payroll staff with daily duties;
∙ Develop processes to ensure continual improved efficiencies for payroll team;
∙ Track and maintain SOX auditing procedures for payroll process;
∙ Engage with outside vendors, existing and new, in preparation for and filing of state and federal taxes within service levels standards;
∙ Conduct audits of systems for hours worked, manager approvals, and accuracy;
∙ Complete year-end/year-begin processes including W-2 forms and establishment of annual processing cycle;
∙ Liaise with Accounting department for general ledger entries including resolution of outstanding items;
∙ Facilitate training on payroll related matters throughout the organization as needed;
∙ Ensure regulatory compliance with all wage and hour related federal and state regulations; and
∙ Other duties as assigned.
